The Kartause Gaming Charterhouse

Stonewalls steeped in history

Take part in a guided tour of the former monastery grounds and afterwards let the restaurant team spoil you.

Renovation works on the charterhouse in Gaming started in 1984. Today, the former monastery is a centre of cultural life with an ambience that is both historical and modern complete with hotel, restaurant and private brewery.

Inaugurated in 1342, the Gaming Charterhouse is the largest charterhouse in the whole of Central Europe and one of the richest monasteries in the country. Today, the renovated premises accommodate a four-star hotel, an event venue, a restaurant and an in-house brewery as well as several university institutes. The atmospheric Easter and Christmas markets are annual highlights.
